Climate Change in Patagonia, Argentina

On Isla Martillo near Ushuaia, Argentina, Magellanic and Gentoo penguins come to mate and shed their feathers before migrating north. There are only two King penguins on the island, but due to increasing heat waves, they have not been successful in hatching an egg. Further north in Calafate, the Perito Moreno glacier part of Lago Argentino, is one of the most important sources of water. Recently, the glacier has started to recede, or melt faster than it grows, which causes flooding in nearby towns and overall concerns related to climate change affecting the region and its species.
